Night Birds Come Home Late

From Monday to Friday they live within a strict social regime. They go to work, to university, they keep up appearances and keep their emotions in check. But as soon as the weekend evening arrives, the streets turn into a stage on which every inhibition falls away. Worn out by the whole week, driven by the urge to release stress and aided by intoxicants, they become part of the nocturnal spectacle.

Documenting this weekly ritual, I ask myself one fundamental question about their identity. In this nocturnal chaos, do these people finally take off their everyday masks and become one hundred percent themselves? Or is the street just another stage, on which they step into a new, weekend role — that of the uninhibited partygoer?
