Post-Topography of Poland

“Post-Topography. Landscape After the Transition” is an original black-and-white photographic series examining the Polish landscape after the political transformation — a space shaped by the layering of eras: relics of the communist era, the makeshift solutions of the 1990s and aggressive property development. Its main proving ground is the Warsaw metropolitan area and its suburbs — a representative microcosm of the nationwide lack of spatial order. The project consciously draws on the “New Topographics” movement (1975), but adds the dimension of time: it shows how makeshift structures quickly vanish, while seemingly permanent relics also turn out to be transient.
