Default settings are predefined values or configurations automatically assigned to various options in software, electronic devices, or operating systems when the user has not made any changes.
When generating images with artificial intelligence, various artifacts, glitches, and errors may appear. Typical issues include: high-frequency artifacts, blurred images, geometric distortions and shifts, repeating patterns, random elements.
Default settings also raise the question that has existed since photography was invented in 1826: does photography show the truth? Images generated by artificial intelligence are based on photographs sourced from the internet, often heavily post-processed, modified, and digitally altered. The model learns from processed data and "untrue" visions, creating its own interpretation of reality.
Technique: photographs taken on a black-and-white medium-format negative and transferred under the enlarger onto wet collodion plate.
